Trial Run is a candidate screening tool. Employers use it to collect video answers, written responses and work samples from people applying to their roles. This page explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
If you are a candidate
When you complete an application, we collect the information you provide: your name, email address, any optional phone number or LinkedIn URL, your answers, any video you record or upload, and any files you attach. We also record when you submitted and when the employer first opened your application.
We act as a processor on behalf of the employer who created the role. They decide what to ask and who on their team can see your submission. Your application is visible only to that employer’s team — never to other employers, and never used to train any model.
How long we keep it
Candidate submissions are deleted automatically 6 months after they are sent. That includes the video held by our video provider and any files in storage, not just the database record.
You can ask for your submission to be deleted sooner by emailing contact@trialrun.me from the address you applied with. We’ll action it and confirm. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you.
How it is stored
- Videos are stored privately and can only be played through short-lived, signed links generated for an authorised reviewer.
- Résumés and work samples are held in private storage and downloaded through links that expire within minutes.
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers.
If you are an employer
We store your name, email address, organization name, the roles you create and any notes your team writes. If you pay to publish a role, payment is handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers to run Trial Run: Supabase (database and file storage), Mux (video hosting and playback), Resend (transactional email), Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (bot protection) and Stripe (payments). Each handles data only to provide their service to us. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies
We set a session cookie so employers stay signed in. Candidates do not need an account, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
